We visit a doctor that WON’T try to poke you in the prostate: the BOSS DR-880. The DR-880 won’t be able to prescribe the medicine for what ails you (unless what ails you is a vitamin beat deficiency). It will, however, provide you with enough kits and pads to satisfy even the most genre-unbounded artist. See more on Gearwire.com.

Could you program this Drum machine on a song type? like Intro-verse-break-verse2-chorus-fill-end etc…..

This is a MPC knockoff…… MPC: pads , rec func. DR-880: pads , rec func.

In a sense, its kinda reassuring drum machines still sound completely wooden, devoid of expression and generally crap, even with all the technology now available. Certainly want one of these though gotta be the best of the crop, even if japs are obsessed with making all their music equipment sound like the 1980′s

just buy an APC. this is throwing your money away. I’m just saying, find like 3 or 4 good torrents, and you’ll have more drums samples than in like every Boss drum machine put together. Stupid.

Sweet! I just bought this along with a Boss Digital Studio!
March 16th, 2010 at 2:57 am
I’ve had some damn good fun with this unit after syncing it up my studio. This video doesn’t do it justice, but awsome sounding via Genelic monitors. Good for Electronica, so I’m happy. I finally ditched computer music for Harware, although more expensive, It has been more technnically rewarding, being ‘hand on’ again is just the bizz. The DR 880 now sits along side my Rolands XV 5080 wt dance extreme, Fantom, JX 8P, SH-101 Kurzweils / Korg Triton Extreme & microkorg. Ah the joy! …

March 16th, 2010 at 4:18 am
lucky firstly even though you made an ignorant comment, I didn’t give you a thumbs down, and the fact that you gave me a thumbs down shows it’s you who has some kind of mental problem. I mean can’t you read a fucking manual? Do you ever read a manual. Btw, I can tell that by saying the things you have, you can’t write songs. You are just untalented and you don’t know how to write songs and you are looking for a machine that requires no talent and no skills. Its you thats wrong, not the machine

man… And yes I even prefer the 808/909 over this bossanova crackassed little music hating outdated sample using cheap interface utilising futile attempt of revenge on the market kinda hoaks!
March 16th, 2010 at 5:41 am
luckylukhasj you say it suck cause you are too fucking stupid to read the manual.

Man, if I were interested in buying this machine based on his demo, I would move on. Fortunately I have purchased one and am learning each day. This machine is AWESOME!
March 16th, 2010 at 10:01 am
I can say the same. This dude has NO idea what he’s doing. C’mon Gearwire, at least grab someone with expertise to represent this fine piece of machinery
March 16th, 2010 at 10:44 am
This guy doesn’t know what he’s doing. I’ve had this machine for years and it still runs flawlessly. I’ve never had a problem. Great piece of equipment.
